Community-Rooted Leadership for a Thriving New Haven
© Chris Randall
I’m Christine Kim, longtime New Haven resident, proud Democrat, and Ward 7 Alder-Elect, working to:
strengthen our downtown,
keep New Haven affordable & inclusive,
improve street & public safety,
and make city government more responsive & transparent for residents.
New Haven’s Ward 7
Ward 7 is at the heart of New Haven — spanning from colorful Ninth Square, through our vibrant downtown business district, to tree-lined lower East Rock.
It is home to longtime residents and newcomers, families and students, seniors and young professionals, renters and homeowners, artists and entrepreneurs.
Ward 7 compasses some of New Haven’s best: the world-famous Modern Apizza, historic New Haven Green, High-Victorian designed City Hall, New Haven Museum, Audubon-Whitney Arts District, Yale Center for British Art, Neighborhood Music School, Creative Arts Workshop, New Haven Ballet, Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, CT Voices for Children, New Haven Promise, CT State Community College - Gateway, Yale School of Management, New Haven Pride Center, and so much more.

My Priorities & What I’m Working For
A Downtown that is welcoming, safe, and functions for residents, workers, businesses, and visitors alike.
A Vibrant Downtown for a Thriving City
So families, seniors, young professionals, and longtime residents can stay, belong, build their lives here, and thrive.
An Affordable, Inclusive New Haven
Smart street design, public safety, and sustainable choices that protect people, neighborhoods, and what makes New Haven such an amazing community.
Safe Streets & Strong Community
Clear communication, accountability, and meaningful civic engagement that builds trust and improves quality of life.
Responsive & Transparent Government
Christine Kim serves as Alder for Ward 7, representing Downtown and East Rock in the City of New Haven. A longtime community leader, she is committed to safe and walkable neighborhoods, thriving small businesses, thoughtful development, and a more responsive and transparent city government.
Christine’s public service has centered on strengthening local systems and building connections across communities. She serves as Board Chair of CitySeed, advancing an equitable and resilient local food system, Vice-President of Urban Resources Institute’s board, co-founder of aapiNHV, and has held leadership roles on several New Haven nonprofit and civic boards focused on sustainability, community development, education, and women’s leadership. She previously served as Democratic Town Committee Co-Chair for Ward 7 and was appointed to the City’s Redevelopment Agency.
Earlier in her career, Christine worked in international environmental policy and public policy research.
As Alder, she focuses on listening to residents, showing up consistently, and advocating for Ward 7 at City Hall — strengthening neighborhood life while helping New Haven grow with care and integrity.
